Gavrilita on New Gas Tariff: We Must Ask ANRE How They Came to Such Calculations

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita assured that the government will come up with a program to help people, but at the same time stressed that there should be a limit to this increase in the gas tariff. Last year we distributed over 1.7 billion lei for consumers and over 600 million lei for businessmen in order to compensate the increase of rates for natural gas and thermal energy. This year, we are working on a program of energy vulnerability and we will study the possibilities of financial support for people to pay their bills,” the Prime Minister said. At the same time, Gavrilita said that the authorities are waiting for October 1 to switch to a new calculation formula and get a better price. “The heating season has not yet started and we have such high purchasing costs, we are waiting for October 1 to switch to a new formula that will offer us a favorable price. We are closely watching the international markets, but I urge people to be united and take care of energy efficiency,” she added. The National Energy Regulatory Agency has approved a new increase of natural gas prices. Thus, as of October 1, end consumers will pay 29.26 lei (including VAT) per cubic meter, which is 6.27 lei more.
