Prime Minister Chicu met with EU Foreign Affairs Director Luke Devin. What was the talk about?

On February 18, Prime Minister Ion Chicu met with EU Foreign Policy Director responsible for the Eastern Partnership, Luke Devin. According to the website of Cabinet of Ministers, officials discussed the justice system reform, the fight against corruption and the meeting of the Moldova-EU Association committee which is to take place in the near future. At the meeting, Chicu thanked the EU for helping Moldova and promised that the government would implement all its commitments. “The government intends to implement the reforms stipulated by the Association Agreement not because we seek to receive macro-financial assistance but because they are necessary to improve the well-being of people,” he said. The Prime Minister also thanked the Council of Europe for its assistance in the justice reform implementation and noted that the authorities will definitely hold consultations with the society recommended by CE experts.
