The leader of the PSRM, Igor Dodon, believes that “it was necessary to start negotiations back in August – as soon as a new government was appointed, and not to engage in empty populist statements”. He wrote about this on his page in the social network, commenting on the statements of Andrei Spinu about the contract for the supply of gas to Moldova, reports aif.md Dodon noted that the search for alternative sources from Western partners, as Spinu said – is pure populism. “Of course, gas can also be supplied from the western direction via Turkish or Northern streams, but it will still be Russian gas, having higher prices due to additional transportation costs. And Western partners should be asked for money to compensate the population for a significant increase in gas tariffs,” the chairman of the PSRM stressed. At the same time, Dodon pointed out that the current government blames the past leadership for the current crisis situation in the country's energy sector, but at the same time recognizes that that agreement was beneficial for Moldova. “We will hear this more than once from the ruling party, controlling all state institutions in the country and unable to cope with the economic, social and energy crises,” he added.
