President Maia Sandu tweeted a message thanking the United States for helping to overcome the gas crisis. “Thankful to the United States for being with us during the gas crisis. We have been in close contact with our American partners, and we hope to continue working closely on strengthening the resilience of our energy sector. Thank you for your support,” Maia Sandu wrote, tvrmoldova.md reports. Moldova has reached an agreement with Gazprom in St. Petersburg on gas supplies. According to the agreement, the previous contract between Gazprom and Moldovagaz will be extended for five years according to the price formula proposed by the Moldovan side. Gas supplies under the new contract began on November 1, 2021. In October, the Republic of Moldova received insufficient gas based on a one-month extension of the contract with Gazprom. The missing gas volume during this period was purchased on the spot market through Energocom at market prices.
