President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council commented on Moldova’s refusal to participate in the EAEU.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recalled that Moldova was interested in the observer status of the EURASEC at one time, and noted that this would help it solve a number of its problematic issues, reports ria.ru
“I am pleased to note that observer states are increasingly becoming involved in the activities of the Eurasian Union. I greet our colleagues from the bottom of my heart. Cuba. Uzbekistan. By the way, Moldova also showed interest in this at the time," he said at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council by video link.
Putin noted that they have the opportunity to participate in the activities of integration bodies at all levels, to get acquainted with the process of preparing integration documents.
“We know how the energy situation in Europe is developing now. Well, Moldova would be closer to solving some issues, and it would probably be easier to solve the problematic issues that arise. I would just be, at least, aware of the events taking place and the decisions we are making,” Putin said.
“Well, based on common interests, we agreed and resolved these issues. But in general, this is an absolutely obvious fact. If they were in the submission, it would be easier to solve the issues we are talking about,” he added.
He also noted that “the integration developing within the framework of the EURASEC attracts the lively attention of other foreign states.”
