After former Prime Minister Ion Sturza said that fugitive MP Ilan Sor would be sentenced in the coming weeks, Justice Minister Sergei Litvinenko said he did not know when a decision would be made. “The Appellate Division is reviewing the case in which Sor was sentenced to 7 years in 2018, and Sor’s appeal regarding a related sentence in the Buiucani court is pending. I don’t know when there will be a decision in this case,” the Minister said on a TV8 program. According to Litvinenco, in the case of conviction of a person who has fled the country, there are two “solutions”. “Either the person is extradited or the case is sent for recognition and serving the sentence in the state concerned.” However, according to Litvinenko, the best solution would be “extradition to Moldova and serving the sentence in the country where the crime was committed.” Recall that on Thursday, September 8, Ilan Sor, internationally wanted member of the Sor party parliamentary faction, confirmed that he was in Israel. At the same time, he announced that he would soon return to Moldova.
