President of Moldova Maia Sandu said in an interview with the public TV channel NHK in Japan, Ukraine is fighting for the freedom of the entire region. At the same time, the Head of State also noted that Russia's energy resources serve as a “weapon” against those who do not support Moscow, reports moldova1.md “We still have a contract with Gazprom, but they decided to cut gas supplies in half. International prices are extremely high. For the Republic of Moldova, it means that the energy curves have risen seven times in the last 12 months alone,” the Head of State explained. She also stressed that Chisinau authorities are analyzing new opportunities to attract Japanese investors. As previously reported, Maia Sandu said in the same interview that she considers accession to the EU the only way for Moldova to survive, which will give more opportunities for economic development and make the country safer. On December 1-3, President Maia Sandu was on an official visit to Tokyo, where she held a series of meetings with senior officials of the Government and Parliament of Japan. On December 5-7, Sandu is going to be in Washington, DC, where she is going to participate in the International Anti-Corruption Conference within the framework of the Summit for Democracy. The program of the presidential visit includes bilateral talks and a meeting with representatives of the Moldovan diaspora in the United States.
