Chisinau may start negotiations with Brussels on Moldova’s accession to the European Union (EU) in 2023. This was stated by the chairman of the Parliament Igor Grosu in an interview with the NordNews portal. The official added that the parliament still has to adopt a number of laws aimed at harmonizing our legislation with the European one. “Our goal is to start negotiations next year, and that will happen. Legislatively, we are delivering on all of our commitments as scheduled. We have to vote on the Election Code. This Thursday we will vote on it in final reading. We voted on amendments related to ombudsman status, and this week we will also vote on amendments related to enhancing the potential of the Equality and Non-Discrimination Board. We keep up with all our commitments, we will pass a law called the “Anti-Oligarchy Law”, set rules to prevent anyone from dominating the banking system or the media or controlling political parties. I’m optimistic, I think we’ll do our homework very well to start negotiations,” Igor Grosu said.
