President Maia Sandu said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statements about the Russian Federation’s plans to destabilize Moldova had been confirmed by our institutions. According to the head of state, the authorities are aware of the plans to destabilize Moldova in the near future. Sandu said that actions were planned involving military-trained saboteurs who would attack government buildings by taking hostages. “Materials received from our Ukrainian partners show documentation of locations and logistical aspects of these subversive activities. Also, the plan suggests involving people from outside the country for violent actions. For example, the materials contain instructions on the rules of entry into Moldova for citizens of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, Serbia and Montenegro. The authors rely on some internal forces, but mainly on criminal groups, such as the Shor formation, some veterans and several people known for their connections with Plahotniuc. The purpose of these actions is to overthrow the constitutional order, to change the legitimate power of Chisinau to an illegitimate one, which would give the country to Russia to stop the process of EU integration,” Sandu said. In this regard, the President instructed the following measures: - State institutions, and especially security and public order agencies, to be as vigilant as possible. - The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova must adopt, as soon as possible, draft laws that will provide the ISS and the Prosecutor's Office with necessary tools to better combat security risks for the country. All those who participate in these actions against the state of the Republic of Moldova – external elements, members of political parties and criminal groups, as well as all those who protect them – must be held accountable.
