Social networks, especially TikTok and Telegram, are actively used in disinformation campaigns, including by groups promoting programs hostile to the European path of the Republic of Moldova. This was stated by Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin in an interview with IPN. According to her, the Inernal Ministry closely cooperates the Security and Intelligence Service, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Office for Prevention and Fight against Money Laundering, as well as other relevant institutions, in order to prevent any external interference in the country’s democratic processes, noi.md reports. A specialized unit is already operating within the General Police Inspectorate, serving as a coordination center for social platforms, and the authorities are making efforts to expand and optimize this rapid response mechanism. “It is very important to remove this content in a timely manner. If it is not blocked within two to three hours, its impact spreads quickly and becomes almost irreversible from a communication standpoint,” noted the Minister of Internal Affairs. Daniella Misail-Nichitin stated that despite having an effective communication channel with TikTok, Telegram continues to ignore the requests of the Moldovan authorities, which complicates the blocking of harmful content.
