Home / Society / MoldATSA Case: Anastasia Taburceanu Came Under the Scrutiny of the Anticorruption Authorities
Anastasia Taburceanu is implicated in a criminal case concerning abuse of office at MoldATSA. The investigation is being conducted, amongst other things, following searches carried out at the state-owned enterprise.
“The National Anticorruption Centre (NAC) has opened a criminal case in relation to this matter. At this stage, criminal proceedings are underway,” Ina Volosciuc, spokesperson for the National Anticorruption Centre (NAC), told Realitatea, according to noi.md.
Earlier, Dragos Galbur, leader of the National Moldovan Party, had reported on social media that Taburceanu was implicated in a criminal case. The politician also published the authorities’ response to his appeal.
Galbur lodged a complaint with the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, demanding an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anastasia Taburceanu’s employment and the setting of her salary. The document was subsequently forwarded to the NAC.
On 30 June, officials from the National Anticorruption Centre (NAC) and anticorruption prosecutors carried out searches at MoldATSA as part of a criminal case concerning suspected abuse of office under aggravating circumstances.
This took place shortly after a scandal erupted over the recruitment of staff at the organization. A journalistic investigation revealed that the head of the organization, Dumitru Vangheli, who received a monthly salary of around 110,000 lei, had provided false information in his CV. Rise Moldova later reported that Anastasia Taburceanu, Maia Sandu’s cousin, had been hired without a competitive selection process in the communications department and was receiving a salary of around 120,000 lei a month.
