Merkel and Trump Discussed the Situation in Ukraine and Syria

On Monday, August 27, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed by phone the situation in Ukraine and in Syria, trade issues, the Western Balkans, Merkel’s spokesman Steffen Seibert said in a statement. According to Steffen Seibert, Both leaders called for international action to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Syrian Idlib Province. “Russia is called upon to act in a moderating manner on the Syrian government and prevent a further escalation”, stressed Seibert.
