National Unity Party may boycott the next parliamentary elections, scheduled for February next year. NUP leader Anatol Şalaru said it during the Adevarul live programme, IPN reports. ‘We are discussing with Traian Basescu the best strategy for this election campaign, because we cannot allow our votes to be in the box. We also consider the option of not participating in these parliamentary elections in protest against the unjust system,’ said Anatol Şalaru. According to him, participation will mean recognition of the regime, which changes the laws when it wants, and in its favor. ‘If we do the analysis and come to the conclusion that our participation in the elections will entice votes, for example, from Maia Sandu or allow the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party to create an overwhelming majority, then we will not participate in the elections,’ said Anatol Şalaru. Former Romanian President Traian Basescu is the honorary chairman of National Unity Party. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for February 24, 2019. IPN
