Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada approved a resolution on the appointment of the next presidential elections. According to the document, the elections will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019. The resolution was supported by 298 deputies. According to the October poll, the former prime minister of the country and the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, were in the lead in the rating of candidates for the presidency of Ukraine. In the second place in popularity was the current president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, in the third - the co-chairman of the Opposition Bloc, Yuriy Boyko. Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada supported the decree of the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on imposing martial law, although many deputies considered this step a president’s attempt to thwart the elections in March 2019.
