Prime Minister Ion Chicu may soon step down. According to PDM leader Pavel Filip, this will be a crucial step, since in his opinion, early parliamentary elections should be held as soon as possible. Filip said that Chicu will step down before the new president’s inauguration, agora.md reported. “I believe the Chicu government will step down on December 24th. There are such conversations, and I think it is logical,” Pavel Filip noted in the Secretele Puterii program on Jurnal TV. At the same time, the deputy supported the idea of early elections and was confident that the Democratic Party would be in parliament. “I agree with early elections. Citizens cannot respect this parliament, given the happening here. Some MPs managed to get through three political parties. I believe that now we will enter parliament,” Filip added. Recall, earlier the leader of "Our Party" Renato Usatii said that after the meeting of Igor Dodon, Ion Chicu and Zinaida Greceanîi, it was decided to resign the Prime Minister before the protest organized on Sunday, December 6. On December 7, President-elect Maia Sandu noted that if the government headed by Ion Chicu does not resign in the coming days, the PAS deputies will initiate a vote of no confidence in the executive branch. Recall, on Sunday, December 6, thousands of people gathered in the Great National Assembly Square at the call of the elected President Maia Sandu, demanding the resignation of the government and holding early elections.
