Jantuan: Nobody but PAS Wants Early Elections

As long as the president-elect hopes for early parliamentary elections, MPs from different political forces are showing coherence in their work and passing important laws. Some political scientists and experts believe that this is a normal democratic process. After all, the main power in the country belongs to the supreme legislative body, and not to the head of state. Former deputy of the Moldovan parliament Stela Jantuan expressed her opinion on this issue,  enews.md reported. “I want to remember the Sunday rally in the center of the capital. We know that Maia Sandu invited those who voted for her. But there was some confusion. Many leaders of unionist formations, for whom the main goal is to unite with Romania and further away from Russia, began to rise to the rostrum and make speeches,” Jantuan said. The politician believes that the country has found itself in a stalemate when there is no formal majority in parliament. “The socialists, together with the Shors vote and pass laws but they do not officially recognize the alliance. A president-elect can do little without a parliamentary majority. Even remove the current government and appoint a new one. As for early elections, no one really wants them except for the PAS party. The majority in parliament is controlled by Igor Dodon, and they do not need new elections. They can even support the Sandu government by shifting responsibility for the situation in the country onto its shoulders. And then they will manipulate the Cabinet. And in the end, they will do everything to prove to people that he is not capable leading the country,” Jantuan is sure.
