The chairman of the National Unity Party, Octavian Ticu, commented on the statements of the PAS representatives that in four years Moldova will apply for membership in the European Union Ticu ironically responded to these statements by representatives of the ruling party, reports unimedia.info “It's all a real phony. First of all, the application for EU membership must be coordinated with the application for joining the North Atlantic Alliance. There is only one option in the process of joining the European Union – through the North Atlantic Alliance. The European Union cannot participate in the process of European integration with a state whose security and protection are in the hands of the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Moldova has not built a defense and security system that guarantees most of the reforms it seeks to carry out,” Octavian Ticu said. Recently, MP from the PAS Mihai Popsoi said that the current government will apply for EU membership in 2025. The politician noted that there are all prerequisites so that incase the outlined reform plan is successfully implemented, the current Moldovan authorities will be able to apply for the republic's accession to the European Union at the end of the 4-year mandate.
