The government will ask parliament to extend the state of emergency in the country for another 60 days. This decision was approved at today’s meeting of the Cabinet. Now Prime Minister Dorin Recean will have to submit this initiative to Parliament for approval. Earlier, the authorities explained the need to extend the state of emergency by “persisting risks to national security” in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as the need to ensure energy and food security. The 60-day state of emergency was extended last time in late March. This regime was first introduced in the country on February 24, 2022 due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Subsequently, it was extended several times.
