President Maia Sandu called on elected mayors to participate in the Mayors’ Forum to be held on 9 December.
In a Facebook post, the head of state told mayors that in the next 4 years they will have to build settlements where residents can be proud of themselves and live in well-being, tv8.md says.
“The people placed their trust and support in you with hopes that you will work to build villages and towns that we can enjoy living in and be proud of.
I want to discuss how we can do these things together. I invite and wait for you at the Mayors’ Forum, organized on 9 December, to lay the foundation for useful cooperation for all citizens,” Maia Sandu said.
Maia Sandu emphasized the goal of creating strong and cohesive communities, improving living conditions at home and making the whole Moldova a European country.
“Our common goal, both mine as president and yours as local leaders is to create strong, cohesive communities, to improve living conditions at home and to turn the whole Moldova, village by village, into a European country with a life of prosperity and good understanding.
You, local elected officials, are at the forefront of residents’ needs. You listen to them day in and day out, and on your shoulders falls the realization of the most essential and natural things - water for all, safe transport, modern kindergartens and schools, developed villages and towns.
Only together - central administration and local administration - we will be able to meet these demands and improve the life of all Moldovans. See you on 9 December at the Forum of Mayors!” Sandu said.
