A branch of the Bucharest Stock Exchange has opened in Moldova this week, and the energy exchange has been operating for some time. This was announced by Mihai Popsoi. “The Kremlin sought to bring us to our knees, to put us in front of a danger, a threat that we would not be able to overcome. As a result, we have overcome it thanks to the consolidation of our society and thanks to the support of our friends: Romania and EU member states,” Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi said during the Punctul pe AZi show, tvrmoldova.md reported. “We have overcome the most difficult period. Now we are in the period of consolidation of these successes, we are no longer dependent on Gazprom. This situation seemed impossible, unrealistic 3-5 years ago. Although we had certain obligations within the framework of the third energy package with the EU, for about 10-15 years, to diversify, to reduce this dependence on a single market, a single importer, distributor,” Mihai Popsoi said. The head of Chisinau’s diplomacy said that the politicians of the last decade delayed the solution of this problem because some of them had no interest. “They were interested in preserving schemes to supply our country with electricity and gas. We remember those offshore companies from which representatives of former governments benefited,” he added. According to the diplomat, this is a sad story, a story that kept Moldova in the sphere of influence and vulnerability. ‘The present looks completely different, Moldova is no longer energy dependent and will never be energy dependent,” he concluded.
