European Union Ambassador to Chisinau Janis Mazeiks said that “it is not necessary to vote for a certain party” in the Moldovan parliamentary elections in order to continue the European integration process.
At the same time, the ambassador called Moldova’s plans to become a member of the EU by 2030 “ambitious but achievable”, omniapres.md reports.
“The goal is ambitious but achievable. It depends on Moldovan politicians and citizens who will vote in the parliamentary elections. That is, whether they will vote for those forces that are ready to continue the fast pace of reforms and negotiations. It does not mean for us voting for one particular party,” Janis Mazeiks said.
In this context, he stressed that the European diplomacy is engaged in a constructive dialogue with all political parties in Moldova.
“We don’t have a biased attitude. It is important for us to understand the positions of all parties running for parliamentary seats and their real attitude towards the EU. We are in dialogue with many political forces. We are in constant communication with PSRM, we have met with Mr Ceban several times, a few months ago we talked to Mr Chicu. We have also met with PAS leaders, as they hold different positions. However, there is a group that we do not communicate with as a matter of principle - the representatives of Ilan Sor,” the EU ambassador emphasized.
