The Embassies of France, Germany and the Netherlands in Bucharest have sent messages of solidarity with Romania, published on X, in which they express their confidence in democracy and the rule of law in Romania.
On February 26, Elon Musk published three posts on the X network in which he criticized the investigation into Calin Georgescu and the judicial measures taken against him, g4media.ro.
This takes place amid events related to the trial and charges brought against Calin Georgescu, which have attracted criticism from ultraconservative circles overseas, as well as the departure of the Tate brothers from the country, who have achieved a relaxation of judicial restrictions. There is a suspicion that this happened under pressure from the American administration, as they are close to MAGA circles.
“France reaffirms its solidarity with Romania, a state based on the rule of law that respects the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary. These principles are fundamental to our democracies,” the French Embassy in Bucharest said in a statement posted on X in French and Romanian.
In turn, the German Ambassador in Bucharest posted the following message on his X account: “Romania is a reliable partner of Germany in both the EU and NATO. Our countries share democratic values and firmly believe in the rule of law. We respect our independent judicial system.”
The Dutch Embassy in Bucharest says that the Netherlands, which has raised objections over the years about Romania'’ effectiveness in fighting corruption, “recognizes the hard work Romania has done to strengthen its judicial system.”
“As partners of the EU and NATO, we share common values. We are confident in our democracies and in the functioning of our state institutions,” the Dutch Embassy in Bucharest said.
