This decision was taken by the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) at today’s meeting. Previously, he served as deputy chief prosecutor and was in charge of the APO’s northern department. We would like to remind you that the post of the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office became vacant after Veronica Dragalin announced her resignation on 19 February, Moldova1 reported. Veronika Dragalin was appointed in August 2022, but unable to stay in office for five years. The reason for her dismissal was her disagreement with the parliamentary initiative to liquidate the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. According to her, the merger of the APO with the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Crime and Special Cases is “an attack on the independence of the judiciary” and corruption in the country may increase.
