Home / Security / Moldova and Poland Prepares a Deal on the Exchange and Protection of Classified Information
The Republic of Moldova and Poland are initiating a bilateral agreement on the exchange and mutual protection of classified information. The document authorizing the start of negotiations will be considered and approved by the government.
According to the draft, the agreement will establish a clear legal framework for the protection of confidential information exchanged between the two states by defining common security standards and mechanisms for the mutual recognition of classification levels, writes ipn.md.
The draft specifies that the initiative is being implemented in the context of intensified bilateral cooperation and the need to strengthen national security, particularly in the field of information protection. The agreement provides for the controlled exchange of classified data with strictly limited access for authorized persons in accordance with the “need-to-know” principle.
Negotiations will be conducted by the Security and Intelligence Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will take place in writing.
The government states that the agreement will not entail significant additional costs and will not require changes to national legislation. It also does not affect the existing international obligations of the two states.
