Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin believes that diplomatic relations with Russia have exhausted themselves, but Kyiv is not yet ready for their break. “As for relations with Russia, by definition we don’t need these relations, and we don’t actually have such relations, but we have to find a form of how and who will help and worry about 2.5 million Ukrainians who are still in the Russian Federation and do all the work that our consuls are doing”, Klimkin said on Monday in the Rada, answering the question whether Kyev is ready to sever diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation, discussing the incident in the Black Sea and the issue of martial law, reports ria.ru. Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation were established in 1992 by the relevant protocol. According to the legislation of Ukraine, proposals for breaking diplomatic relations are made by the Foreign Ministry or other central executive bodies (Cabinet of Ministers, ministries, departments). Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that it did not support the idea of breaking off diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation, as it believes that this could adversely affect the citizens of Ukraine. On November 25 the ships of the Ukrainian Navy, moving from the Black Sea to the Kerch Strait, violated the Russian border, reported on Sunday the FSB. The warships did not respond to the legal demands of the ships and boats accompanying them from the border services of the FSB and the Black Sea Fleet of Russia to immediately stop and did dangerous maneuvers, they were detained. A spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, called the incident “a very dangerous provocation that requires a serious investigation.” The Council of National Security and Defense (NSDC) of Ukraine decided to impose martial law in the country. The decision must still be approved by the Verkhovna Rada at an extraordinary meeting. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the introduction of martial law in the country does not mean an immediate mobilization, the military will be trained the first stage. Source: Point.md
