Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called on the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance to send warships to the Sea of Azov. Such a move would support Ukraine in the light of the escalation of the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv after Russia’s seizure of Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait, Poroshenko said in an interview to Bild on Wednesday, November 28. According to the head of Ukraine, the President Vladimir Putin wants to annex the Sea of Azov. “The only language he understands is the unity of the western world”, stressed Poroshenko. The President of Ukraine called Germany the closest ally. He highly appreciated the participation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the negotiations in Minsk in 2015. According to Poroshenko, back then the head of the German government saved Ukraine. “We hope that she, together with the rest of our allies, will once again support Ukraine”, the president added.
