The Resistance Movement ACUM’s petition signed by over 50,000 Moldovan citizens, by which the European Union and its member states are requested to help investigate the US$ 1 billion theft committed in the banking system, was presented in Strasbourg by the PAS and PPPDA leaders Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase. The leader of the Action and Solidarity Party during the discussion with MEP Petras Auštrevičius, said that four years have passed since the theft, but the Moldovan authorities recovered no money of the stolen funds and penalized none of those involved in the banking fraud. The citizens seek support from the European institutions to investigation aspects of the fraud. The Dignity and Truth Platform Party leader said the petition shows the will of over 50,000 persons who cannot seek help from the Moldovan institutions because these are controlled politically. They put their hope in the European institutions and the EU member states so as to have the banking fraud, the laundering of Russian funds and other crimes committed against the population by the current regime investigated. The petition is addressed to the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Anti-Fraud Office, and Europol. Source: IPN
