President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expects to meet with U.S. leader Donald Trump in order to strengthen his negotiating position before a possible Normandy Four summit, Izvestia newspaper reported on August 16, citing political sources in Kyiv.
“Zelensky intends to have time to meet with U.S. leader Donald Trump before the possible Normandy Four summit”. <…> the head of Ukraine intends to turn to his American colleague with a request to show more public activity on the Ukrainian issue,”the newspaper reads.
According to the newspaper, in order to discuss any changes in the Minsk agreements, the current government has questions to, international support is needed. Then Moscow supposedly does not blame Kyiv on sabotage.
Over the 2.5 years of the presidency, Trump spoke on the Ukrainian issue, as a rule, carefully, trying to stay away, giving this direction to other representatives of the U.S. political elite.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced a “nearly agreed” visit by President Zelensky to Washington.
