Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee Siegfried Muresan reaffirmed full support to the Parliament’s offer to the European development path of the Republic of Moldova. Nevertheless, the MEP noted that the new Chisinau government should win trust of international partners, such as the European Union, tvrmoldova.md reports. At the same time, member of the European Parliament for Romania explained that the Government of the Republic of Moldova needed real progress in implementing the reforms provided for in the Association Agreement in order to continue to get macro-financial assistance from the European Union. “The European Union immediately responds to any decisions made in accordance with the provisions of the Association Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Moldova, and also when important reforms are undertaken. We will probably have the same approach after the recent and unexpected change of the Chisinau government. We are a strong supporter of the European path of the Republic of Moldova. This is our role. However, the new government must win trust of the international partners of the Republic of Moldova, such as the European Union. Until then, the EU will remain vigilant,” Siegfried Muresan said. “We want to see clear results in the fighting corruption and money laundering, as well as strengthening the rule of law. We want to see the investigation of bank fraud ongoing. Only then can we move forward in unlocking further macro-financial assistance from the European Union,” the Romanian MP added. “Since the signing of the Association Agreement, the Republic of Moldova has achieved significant success, and trade between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union has grown significantly. However, it is important that these things are known to all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, namely that these successes were achieved largely thanks to the Association Agreement and support from the European Union,” said the Euro-MP.
