Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, have signed an agreement on Britain's withdrawal from the European Union in Brussels. They reported this on Twitter on Friday, January 24th.
“Today, Ursula von der Leyen and I signed an agreement to withdraw Great Britain. Some things will inevitably change, but our friendship will continue. We are starting a new chapter as partners and allies. And I'm interested in writing a new page together,” Charles Michel
wrote.
At its turn, Ursula von der Leyen noted that after signing the document "the possibility of its ratification by the European Parliament opens."
On the eve it was reported that
on January 29 the European Parliament is scheduled to ratify the agreement on Britain's exit from the EU. At an emergency meeting yesterday, the European Parliament's Constitutional Affairs Committee
supported the Brexit agreement.
