Information on Turkey’s request to the United States for the supply of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) to deter Syrian troops is not true, the Turkish Defense Ministry spokesman told RIA Novosti (RIA News) on Thursday. As Bloomberg reported earlier, citing a source in Ankara, Turkey requested two Patriot air defense systems from the United States to deter Syrian troops supported from the air by Russia. According to the agency, Turkey is asking to deploy Patriot on its southern border and "allow it to freely punish any future attacks by Syrian troops supported by Russia from the air," ria.ru reports. "This message is not true," the source said in response commenting on this information. Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported two dead and five wounded Turkish military during an air attack in Syrian Idlib.
