The ban on the export of medicines and equipment from the European Union due to coronavirus showed that there is no European solidarity, said Serbian President Alexander Vučić. According to the Serbian Ministry of Health, Sunday evening, 48 people were infected with coronavirus in the country. The government has limited prices for food, personal protective equipment and hygiene. The Cabinet of Ministers also banned mass gatherings of up to 50 people and urged citizens over 65 not to leave home without urgent need. The head of state on Sunday evening held meetings with the leadership of the national crisis headquarters and the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, then addressed the public and declared the state of emergency. "I will not draw political conclusions now, but we realized that there is no international or European solidarity, all these were fairy tales on paper," Vučić said. According to him, the ban on medicines and medical equipment export from the EU was reported by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. "Only the PRC can help us in this situation, and I wrote a letter to Chairman Xi Jinping, asking for help and calling him brother," Vučić said. He specified that Serbia asked for help with medicines, ordered five million protective masks from the PRC and offered to send doctors. “When they (the EU) needed Serbian money, then they demanded to change the terms of tenders so that European firms would receive contracts. When trouble came and it became hard, then even Serbian money doesn’t help. Thank you very much for that, believe me, I will find a way “to thank them”, the Serbian President emphasized.
