Former Romanian President Traian Basescu believes the Romanian authorities should ask Russia for information on coronavirus vaccine’s effectiveness. And if it turns out to be positive then to import it. Basescu wrote about on Facebook on October 18. Basescu criticized the current Romanian authorities, saying that they are pursuing their own political interests, while there are no more places in hospitals in the country for coronavirus patients. According to the ex-president, to stop the number of patients increase, in addition to online education transitioning, theaters, restaurants and shopping centers closing, it is necessary to request information from Russia about the new coronavirus vaccine. And if vaccine’s effectiveness turns out to be proven then, according to Basescu, Romania should import it. Recall, two coronavirus vaccines have already been registered in Russia. At the end of September, clinical trials of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine began in Belarus. About 100 people are involved within testing. Earlier, President Igor Dodon officially turned to the Russian authorities requesting to provide the vaccine for Moldova. Later, Dodon stated Moldova will vaccinate citizens after the vaccine gets through all official registration stages, in accordance with international standards. On October 14, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the government that it was in Russia's interests to promote the Russian coronavirus vaccine abroad. However, at the same time, it is necessary to strive to establish the production of the drug "at production facilities in those countries where this vaccine will be sold."
