President of Moldova Maia Sandu is paying an official visit to Paris, there she met with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. “Dear President, Emmanuel Macron, I am delighted to be here at your invitation. It gives me great pleasure to be the first President of Moldova to visit the Elysee Palace. This visit is very important to us. A visit that will deepen cooperation between Moldova and France for the benefit of our citizens. The Republic of Moldova is a European state not only geographically, we are Europeans in culture, history, language, but also in striving for democracy, equality and the rule of law. 2/3 of our foreign trade falls on the countries of the European Union, - said Maia Sandu at a joint press conference, zdg.md quoted. "In 2014, when we signed the Association Agreement with the European Union, we followed the European path of development of our country. This is the shortest path to democracy and prosperity. The Association Agreement allows us to bring European values and standards to our home to improve people's living standards ... In the presidential elections in November last year, I received a strong mandate from the citizens of Moldova to reform the judicial system and establish the rule of law. The people of my country deserve to live better, to know that they are protected by law and that their right to freedom is sacred. I have undertaken to do this and I am glad that the French Republic is ready to help us in this endeavor, as it has been doing for all 29 years of Moldovan-French relations, "Sandu said. The head of state also stressed that France is one of the ten largest investors in Moldova. "We want to increase the volume of trade with France, we want even more French investments in our country. Moldova is a small country strategically located between East and West, with an attractive economic potential, which I invite you to discover." Sandu also drew attention to the fact that Moldova is an active member of the Francophonie. "We have a large number of schools where French is taught, we have bilingual classes. We want to develop our cultural cooperation, because French plays an important role in the development of Moldova." President Maia Sandu is paying an official visit to Paris from 3-4 February to give a new impetus to political, economic and cultural relations between Moldova and France.
