The National Bank of Moldova reported that according to preliminary data, the gross external debt of our country decreased by 1.2% in the first quarter and as of March 31, 2021 amounted to 8,253.89 million US dollars (68.0% of GDP). Data provided by the National Bank says that the state and state-guaranteed external debt amounted to 28.6% of the total external debt - 2 billion 360.49 million US dollars, moldpres.md reports. The structure of the state external debt by creditors, as of March 31, shows that the World Bank Group remained the main creditor of the state with a share of 33.2% of the total amount. It is followed by the IMF with 27.3% and the EIB with 17.9%. Unsecured private external debt amounted to $ 5 billion 893.40 million, which is 0.6 percent less than on December 31 of last year. The largest share of the gross external debt balance is long-term debt (71.2%), which amounted to USD 5 billion 874.98 million as of March 31, 2021 (1.6% less than at the beginning of the year). Short-term external debt decreased by 0.3% in the first quarter of this year and as of March 31 of this year amounted to 2 billion 378.91 million US dollars.
