The leader of Our Party Renato Usatii announced his resignation from the post of mayor of Balti.
He announced this live on Facebook. The announcement was made after the Renato Usatii electoral bloc failed to enter parliament in the July 11 early parliamentary elections.
"Yesterday, the residents of Balti showed that they chose politics, not concrete deeds. We have shown what we are capable of, and I am sure that our deeds will remain in the memory of people," Usatii commented on his decision.
"Tomorrow, I will write an application for vacation, and upon my return I will resign. Balti residents clearly stated yesterday that they do not want achievements, but want a politician at the head of the mayor's office. Therefore, I am resigning, and in the autumn the Balti citizens will elect a new mayor.
Also, other members of my team, including Grigorisin, will not run for this post," Usatii said.
Usatii also made it clear that he intends to leave the leadership of Our Party.
"I will talk to my colleagues and propose another party chairman to them," the politician said.
According to the results of the parliamentary elections, Renato Usatii's bloc received almost four times fewer votes than Renato Usatii himself as a candidate in the presidential elections in the fall of 2020. Thus, if in the first round of the presidential elections Renato Usatii gained 227 thousand votes, in yesterday's parliamentary elections his party received 60 thousand votes.
