President Maia Sandu does not exclude that possible cyber attacks on the website of the Accounts Chamber and the servers of the Customs Service on July 15 may be an attempt by some officials to "erase evidence, destroy documents and data in information systems." Sandu said this on July 15 on the air of the Moldova în Direct program on the public TV channel. In this regard, the President urged officials to abandon such actions, for which they will be held accountable.
It should be noted that on July 15, there were disruptions in the work of two Moldovan state institutions at once - the Accounts Chamber and the Border Police. Due to a technical failure, all checkpoints on the Moldovan border did not work for an hour and a half. Later, the Customs Service denied information about cyber attacks on customs servers, saying that it was a technical failure due to the heat.
However, the president does not rule out that these failures are associated with changes in the country's leadership.
"I would not like to give any assessments, since I do not have enough information about who is behind these cyber attacks and what they are targeted at. But even today [July 15], I met with several representatives of state institutions to discuss the threats during the power transition, when the previous authorities have not yet left and the new ones have not yet arrived. We also know how everything is happening in Moldova, how evidence, documents, data from information systems are erased in order to cover up the traces of illegal actions," Sandu said.
She urged civil servants to abandon illegal actions, as they will be held accountable for this.
"I appeal to those who work in government agencies: do not do this, because now we have enough time to analyze and identify those who are trying to erase their tracks. This is a message for all officials who are trying to cover their tracks: you will be punished for these actions, so do not commit such violations," Sandu warned.
Recall, on July 15, the work of two Moldovan state institutions at once was disrupted- the Accounts Chamber and the Border Police. Due to a technical failure, all checkpoints on the Moldovan border did not work for an hour and a half. The deputy from the DA party Liviu Vovc suggested that these incidents were not accidental.
NM investigated whether the incidents in the Accounts Chamber and the Border Police were related and what were the reasons.
