Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that the authorities may impose a state of emergency on the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova if the infection rate in the country exceeds 350 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. The statements of the head of government were made on the air of Radio Moldova, reports deschide.md “The Emergency National Commission in the field of Public Health has decided that if the incidence in the country exceeds 350 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, they are likely to recommend to the government and parliament to introduce a state of emergency,” Gavrilita said. Answering the question about the possible closure of schools and the transfer of children to online education, the Prime Minister noted that the authorities are doing their best to prevent such a scenario. “Our goal is not to keep sacrificing the quality of children's education. Last year online learning affected the quality of education. We don't want to realize 10 years from now that we have lost significant human capital to this pandemic. That's why we're doing our best. The decisions of the Commission state that even at the “red level of danger” schools remain open and classes are held with physical presence of students,” Gavrilita said. “At the moment we are preparing a protocol that will very clearly establish how to act if a child gets infected. At the moment, the class is isolated for 14 days. We are studying the possibility of testing, as it is done in other European countries, and if there is a sick child, all children will be checked using rapid tests on the first and fifth days so that they can be back to school physically on the fifth day,” the prime minister added.
