Moldova will continue negotiations with Gazprom on a new contract for the supply of fuel, but the republic is forced to purchase gas from alternative suppliers to overcome the crisis in the energy sector. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the country Natalia Gavrilita.
“We intend to continue negotiations with Gazprom in order to find a long-term solution based on the commercial interests of both countries. The negotiations have moved forward, but there is no final decision yet, as there is no certainty that it will be reached”, she said, reports tass.ru
In this situation, the head of government clarified, "the state company Energocom will be instructed to purchase the necessary volume of natural gas from alternative sources to ensure the necessary pressure in pipelines while the government continues negotiations with Gazprom.
Gavrilita also noted that Moldova has turned to alternative traders to fill the gap.
“We will provide Energocom with financial resources to purchase the necessary amounts of gas. The offer has already been published this morning, we are waiting for a response from traders and will establish a transparent procedure for making purchases”, Gavrilita said.
According to her, a decision on the introduction of a state of emergency will be made in Moldova on October 22 to allocate funds.
