Romania again asked Ukraine to officially recognize the non-existence of the Moldovan language. The plea was reiterated by the Secretary of State of the Foreign Ministry in Bucharest Dan Neculaescu. The Romanian official said this during a meeting with the Deputy Head of Ukraine’s presidential office Igor Zhovka, agora.md reports. The two officials also discussed the problems of the Romanian community in Ukraine in terms of access to education in their mother tongue, which were previously restricted by the new Ukrainian law on national minorities. “Secretary of State Dan Neculaescu confirmed that the situation with the rights of persons belonging to the Romanian minority in Ukraine will remain a focal point on the bilateral agenda, stressing the need for a sustainable and effective solution to all issues,” the Romanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
