NATO Secretary General says West must continue supporting Kyiv despite military and economic costs
Russia’s war in Ukraine could last for years, and Kyiv will need support from the West, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with German newspaper Bild.
“We must prepare for the fact that it could take years,” he said.
“We must not let up in supporting Ukraine. Even if the costs are high, not only for military support, but also because of rising energy and food prices,” Stoltenberg added.
In recent days, international leaders have repeatedly shown their support for Ukraine, including their recommendations that the country be admitted to the European Union.
The G7 promised to support Ukraine “as long as it takes”, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told the German news agency dpa.
