Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoselsky has made another appeal to Moldovan President Maia Sandu to negotiate “the principles of a peaceful political settlement”.
This was announced to journalists by the Transdniestrian negotiator Vitaly Ignatiev. He noted that “the letter sent back in mid-August is another signal that Transdniestria is open and ready for a high-level dialogue with Moldova,” infotag.md reports.
The letter quoted regretted that “the previous appeal sent six months ago was left unanswered as well”.
In Krasnoselsky’s opinion, the policy pursued by Sandu amid the crisis in Ukraine “moves Moldova further away from the position of a neutral country.” He believes that “current events in Ukraine are a direct consequence of the inability to reach a compromise at the negotiating table.”
“Today, the task of restoring the dialogue between Transdniestria and Moldova is more relevant than ever, and is feasible with the political will,” the message reads.
Ignatiev said that the international participants of the 5+2 negotiating format had been informed of this appeal. He noted that the next meeting of representatives of the sides could be held on September 5, along with a meeting of health experts of the sides.
