The People’s Assembly of Gagauzia is worried by statements and publications “about the danger for integrity and safety of the Republic of Moldova that comes from Gagauzia and about separatist moods of political leaders of the Gagauz autonomy”. The Presidium of the People’s Assembly called these statements “provocative” and untrue, nokta.md reported. In this regard, the Presidium of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia declares: - The autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia is an integral and indivisible part of the Republic of Moldova in its historical, present and future context. - Gagauz autonomy is a form of self-determination of Gagauz people, but exclusively within the unified Moldovan state as the only homeland for a small Gagauz people. - ATU Gagauzia is a concentration of interethnic wisdom of the multi-ethnic Republic of Moldova directed to the creation of a political and economic autonomous territorial entity functioning within the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and the Law on the Special Legal Status of Gagauzia. - Any statements of politicians and other officials in the public space about “separatism of the Gagauz autonomy” are unfounded and harmful, and aim to sow discord between the Gagauz and the Moldovan peoples, who are the key parts of the united Moldovan nation. - The Gagauz autonomy is a threat only to those people and institutions who promote the idea of unification with other states and consider that the Republic of Moldova is a temporary state project created artificially, with no future. Notably, none of the current government representatives have ever voiced their support for Moldova being deprived of its sovereignty or annexed to another state. As a reminder, the Congress of Deputies of All Levels and Convocations of Gagauzia is due on October 2, in Comrat. When the first such event took place, deputies proclaimed the Gagauz Republic as part of the USSR. Point
