MEP: More Than Ever, Moldova Deserves Trust on the International Scene

The Republic of Moldova today is more credible than ever on the international arena, with a clear European perspective, MEP Siegfried Muresan said in an interview for the Romanian press. According to him, the European Union is ready to accept our country into its ranks, and one day it will become a member of the EU, radiomoldova.md reports. “The Republic of Moldova today is more credible than ever on the international arena, with a clear European perspective (...). When I was in Chisinau three weeks ago, all members of the EP delegation from several countries were surprised by the speed of reforms, especially in the field of justice, despite the difficulties faced by Moldova,” the MEP said. Siegfried Muresan expressed hope that accession negotiations with the EU will take place next year, once the European Commission assesses the situation after these reforms. “Our security in the EU depends on the stability of Ukraine, depends on the stability of Moldova. And the EU understands that just as Ukraine is important for all of us, the Republic of Moldova is important for all of us,” the Romanian MEP added. According to him, in recent weeks, the EU has offered Moldova consistent support, including financial support, to overcome the energy situation. On June 23 this year, the European Council granted Moldova the status of EU candidate country.
