The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has ruled in the case of former Prime Minister Vlad Filat against the Republic of Moldova, in which it found a violation of Article 6 of the Convention – the right to a fair trial.
At the same time, the court awarded Filat the sum of 7,500 euros in moral damages, reports tv8.md.
The case concerns the criminal proceedings under which Vlad Filat was convicted in 2016.
The former Prime Minister complained to the ECtHR that he was tried in camera, which led to the violation of a number of fundamental rights and freedoms, citing Article 6 of the Convention – the right to a fair trial.
