The visit is a strong symbol of support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression, the European Commission has said.
Fifteen European commissioners headed by the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived in Kyiv to take part in a joint meeting with the Ukrainian government. This was announced on the European Commission website on Thursday, February 2.
“The visit of the College is a strong symbol of the Commission’s support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression.
The meeting between the Commission and the Ukrainian Government will be an opportunity to exchange on the many areas of cooperation between the EU and Ukraine, and discuss the upcoming reconstruction as well as the country’s European path. It is also an opportunity to deepen further cooperation with Ukraine,” the message reads.
Recall that the Ukraine-EU summit will be held in Kyiv on February 3. President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace plan, military situation and partner support for Ukraine will be discussed.
As Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated earlier, a number of sectoral documents and a joint statement will be signed at the summit.
