European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders is on a two-day visit to Moldova to discuss the rule of law in the context of the country’s candidate status for European Union membership.
He will meet with President Maia Sandu, new Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Moldovan Minister of Justice Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, infotag.md reported citing a press release from the European Commission.
The parties will discuss democracy, the rule of law and justice reform in Moldova, as well as the implementation of the recommendations of the Venice Commission and Moldova’s efforts to improve cooperation and training of judges.
The program of the visit also includes meetings with the head of the Parliamentary Legal Commission, Olesea Stamate, representatives of civil society organizations (Institute for European Policy and Reforms and the Center for Legal Resources of Moldova).
