Ukraine has imposed economic sanctions against more than 300 companies and 150 individuals who “directly work for or facilitate Russian aggression”. Analyzing the lists, Europa Libera journalists identified a company registered in the Republic of Moldova in October 2003 and founded by another company of the same name from Cyprus (founded by a Russian citizen). According to open data, the company sells boilers (water heaters) in chains of household appliance shops in Moldova. At least six other companies with a similar name appear on the sanctions list published by the Ukrainian authorities. The Ukrainian sanctions include freezing of assets, restriction or complete cessation of economic transactions with the persons and companies mentioned in the Ukrainian presidential decree, prohibition of capital’s withdrawal from Ukraine to other countries. Ukraine has repeatedly expanded its sanctions lists amid the Russian invasion. Russian politicians, officials, businessmen and artists are recognized as undesirable in Ukraine. Recently, Moldova has joined a package of European sanctions against Russia related to Russian aggression in Ukraine.
