US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu in Washington on Monday. The two sides discussed the strategic partnership between the US and Romania as NATO allies to enhance security and energy resilience in the Black Sea region, golosameriki.com reports. Secretary of State Blinken thanked Romania for its important role in helping Ukraine in its war against Russia. Blinken emphasized that it is largely thanks to Romania that Ukraine is able to continue exporting grain, wheat and other goods across the Danube and the Black Sea, which is “extremely important not only for Ukraine’s economy, but also for people around the world”. In his turn, the Romanian Prime Minister reiterated Romania’s commitment to support Ukraine “until it achieves victory over the Russian Federation”. Marcel Ciolacu also urged the US to “pay attention” to Moldova, which, according to him, is “the second most vulnerable country after Ukraine” in the face of Russian aggression. “There are armed conflicts in Ukraine, while in Moldova a hybrid war is being waged against President Maia Sandu and the democratically elected government,” Ciolacu said. Romania’s Prime Minister is paying a working visit to the United States, which includes trips to Washington and New York, as well as meetings with senior American officials. Romania’s Prime Minister has already met with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in Washington.
