The delegation of the Russian Federation will not be able to attend the session of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which will be held in Chisinau in May. This decision was taken by the Moldovan Foreign Ministry. As the ministry explained, the participation of the Russian delegation in the conference is excluded because of the military invasion of Ukraine, which grossly violated the UN Charter, provoked numerous crises and undermined food security at the international level. “The Foreign Ministry has decided to forbid Russian officials to participate in person and to limit it at the embassy level or in an online format,” the foreign ministry stated. Moldova will host the 34th FAO Regional Conference from 14 to 17 May 2024. It will be attended by representatives of 54 countries, including the EU as a full member. Issues related to agriculture, food safety and digitalization for sustainable use of land, forests and water resources will be discussed during the conference.
